Office 2016 doesn't support to open the .shs file, but you can try to use WordPad to open them.

Please follow the steps below to open scrap files:

However, an experiment here suggests that if you have no alternative, you can restore the ability to read Shell Scrap files by copying the shscrap.dll file and its associated Windows registry entries from a Windows XP system to a 32-bit Windows 7 system. 4. Click and drag the scrap file into WordPad. The file's text content will open in the WordPad application. Do not double-click the file--the file may launch in the application it originated from and open the file it is related to.

5. View the scrap file's text content. If an icon appears in WordPad instead of the file's text content, right-click the icon and select 'Package Object/Edit Package' to view the scrap file's contents.

I followed these instructions up to (5). An icon appears in WordPad instead of text content. Right clicking does not result in an option called 'Package Object/Edit Package'. You do get an option 'Packager Shell Object Object'. Selecting this gives you another option, 'Activate Contents'. Selecting this brings up an 'Open Package Contents Security Warning'. Clicking Open opens Word, which tries to open the scrap, which is rendered as 130 pages of junk.

The Scrap(.shs) File have been removed from WindowsVista and later. Also, the scrap file is a special OLE object and is not a readable file. You cannot open an .shs file nor can you insert it into another document. You can refer to WD: What Is a Scrap (.shs) File? for more information.

The new Synaptics driver is pretty great except that 3 out of every 4 boots my touchpad isn't being initialized. I have a Sony SVS15 laptop and this issue has persisted through every update and driver Synaptics has released for Win 10. On the v16 of Synaptics drivers my touchpad works all the time and includes gestures. Sony vaio sve151c11m drivers windows 7 2015 free online.

Hi there, Just recently I transfered some files from My Documents into my My Pictures directory. Actually, its a word document containing some images. I did copy pasted some images into another folder. Then a Scrap.shs file just came out instead of the images that I am copying.

I did googled about scrap.shs file and have read that the copying and pasting might have caused the said incident. But whenever I would delete it, it would say that the file is in use and cannot delete the file and I need to close the running application or used file first. Can somebody how to delete this file? I am also paranoid that this might be a virus.
